dollhouse homes
of the city
cling to the granite surface of
PreCambrian rocks
evergreens grow out of
crevasses, colour rocks
like green splotches
on an artist’s palette
gold metal-sided
headframe looms along
the Perimeter, ghost
silhouette arising in fog
smokestack surrounded
by smelter, zinc plant,
concrete authority
dominates the landscape
rock reflections,
upside down houses
reversed in the dusky
waters of Ross Lake
